Annual Meeting Secretary’s Report

Coplin Plantation Schoolhouse Historical Society

September 29, 2024

In April of 2023, Harriet Powers, Linda Lowell, Richard Fotter, Vern and Joanne Bean, met to discuss improving efforts to preserve the schoolhouse and the history of Coplin Plantation. We voted in officers, came up with annual membership dues and planned our first fundraiser, Karaoke for a Cause. We have been meeting regularly since.

Fundraisers in the past year included Karaoke for a Cause, a Pancake Breakfast/Bake Sale/Raffle, and our Membership/Donation drive for which we sent out 319 letters to Businesses and residents of Stratton, Eustis and Coplin Plantation.

In 2024 we had 8 memberships (5 singles, and 3 families). For 2025 we currently have 15 memberships (7 singles, and 8 families).

Donations have come from near and far away, including from our board members, families and friends. We have received appropriations from Coplin Plantation and donations from The Stratton-Eustis Lions Club and Kibby Wind Project plus matching grants from the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation through Mount Bigelow Lodge # 202 in Stratton.

We had a total of seven (7) meetings between April of 2023 and September 2024, with all officers in attendance. For future, we decided to have bi-monthly meetings as follows: November, January, March, May, July and our Annual meeting in September and special sessions as required.

We would like to thank our officers, our members and all of those who donated time, labor, materials and funds towards our goal of being open to the public in the summer of 2025.

Respectfully submitted,

Joanne Bean

Secretary
